ST. PAUL — The St. Paul Saints have opened their new $67 million ballpark with an exhibition game.

The new and improved CHS Field has a massive video scoreboard in left field, plush locker rooms and indoor batting cages. But, the Saints brought some of the old touches along from Midway Stadium, the club’s home for 22 years, including the between-inning mascot races and the kiddie car Grand Prix.

Longtime fan Tom Flynn said in a press release he had stopped going to Midway because of the long lines to concessions and rest rooms. There were no long lines Monday night for the exhibition opener. The Saints jumped out to a 2-0 lead before beating the Sioux City Explorers 5-3 in 10 innings.
