Three people from Ames, Iowa, were injured early this morning after a broadside collision on Interstate 35 near the exit to Geneva.
Lena M. Wol, 32, Awein D. Louk, 36, and Shilena M. Diing, 38, all of Ames, were reportedly transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The report stated a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup pulling a trailer and a 2007 Dodge Caliber were driving southbound on I-35 when a deer ran out onto the highway.
The pickup, driven by George M. Davison, 61, of Sherwood, Arkansas, changed lanes to avoid the deer, lost control, and the trailer jackknifed, coming to rest in the roadway.
The Caliber, driven by Wol, hit the side of the trailer.
The State Patrol indicated the crash took place at 12:48 a.m.
No alcohol was detected in any of the occupants, and all of the people were wearing their seat belts.
