MINNEAPOLIS — Bystanders rescued a woman who had gone underwater in a lake in Minneapolis.
Hennepin County sheriff’s officials said a 17-year-old girl and 20-year-old woman were attempting to swim to a floating dock at Lake Harriet’s North Beach Wednesday. Both went under water, but the teen surfaced and made it out of the lake on her own.
According to a press release, Zachary Beckman said he was asleep on the beach and awoke to a chaotic scene. Beckman is a certified lifeguard so he got other bystanders to get a search line going in the water and soon they found the woman about 15 to 20 feet from shore at the bottom of the lake.
Beckman and two others brought the woman to shore where another bystander performed CPR and revived her. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
