Ellendale’s Commercial Club has organized a weekend of events for their annual Ellendale Days celebration.

The events start Friday with Paint Until You Faint and spin art activities at Country Charms Ceramics, local business specials and garage sales at First Lutheran Church as well as many other homes in town. These activities are scheduled all day and will continue on Saturday.

Other events scheduled for Friday include Burger Battle at 5 p.m. at the Ellendale Muni, a family movie night from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Community Center and live music and a street dance from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The activities are set to continue on Saturday with a 5k run/walk at the park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the event starting at 9 a.m.

Pancakes for Panthers is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The donations raised at the event will benefit the NRHEG marching band. A car show is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the bus shed. Judging for the show will commence at noon. The reptile zoo will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the city park.

Commercial Club member Stephanie Lageson Kibler said one new event this year is the Rev Up Main Street Golf Cart Decorating Contest on Saturday. Viewing will begin at 11 a.m. with judging starting at 1 p.m. All participants will be asked to join the parade, which will start at noon. The parade will be followed by the kiddie tractor pull at the fire hall and turtle races at the city park.

The schedule does not end there. The Commercial Club will host a pork chop dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Community Center. The Dan Stursa Band will play on the city stage after the parade until 8 p.m. A teen dance will run from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Community Center. Live music and a street dance are also planned from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The local Lions Club is hosting a couple of events on the weekend’s calendar as well. This includes a Lions meat raffle from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at Ellendale Muni; coffee and rolls at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the bus shed; Lions bingo, which will follow the parade at Ellendale Muni; and the Lions food tent, which will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the bus shed.

Things wind down on Sunday with Praise in the Park at 10 a.m. and Picnic in the Park at 11 a.m. The activities will draw to a close after the tractor pull which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
