FOREST CITY — A woman accused of stealing money from a Lake Mills preschool and day care faces criminal charges.

Brenda Ranae Steinman, 41, of Northwood is charged with felony counts of second-degree theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and misdemeanor tampering with records.

She is accused in court documents of spending $7,371 belonging to Lake Mills Community Preschool & Daycare on her own expenses.

The money was taken on or around Jan. 15 while Steinman was employed as the preschool’s director, according to court documents. She no longer works for the day care.

Steinman was released from the Worth County Jail on Thursday after posting $5,000 bond. Her next court appearance is set Monday in Winnebago County District Court in Forest City.
