St. Paul officer fires at suspected shoplifter

ST. PAUL — An off-duty St. Paul police officer shot at a man who was suspected of shoplifting from Walmart after the man pointed a weapon at the officer twice.
According to a press release, no one was injured in the Sunday afternoon incident. The officer was off-duty, but in his police uniform.
Police haven’t confirmed what weapon the man allegedly had.
Police said the officer confronted the man in the Walmart entryway after he suspected the man shoplifted.
The man then pointed a weapon at the officer and went into the parking lot. He got into a pickup truck and pointed his weapon at the officer a second time. The officer then fired at the man.
The man is from Tomah, Wisconsin. He was arrested after an eight-minute pursuit.
