Heart of the Heartland is an exhibition of artwork celebrating the rural midwest.

Past, present and future meld in the look at the rural experience. Heart of the Heartland is an exhibition of artwork that expresses all the dreams, ethos and pathos of life on the prairie.

The Freeborn County Arts Initiative, 224 S. Broadway in Albert Lea, is looking to showcase artist’s interpretations of Heart of the Heartland in their new gallery throughout July and August. All manners of media are acceptable including paintings, drawings, sculpture and photography.

The event will be a juried show. Up to eight digital images should be submitted to 224broadway@gmail.com by Saturday. An image list with finished sizes should be included. Selected artists will be contacted the following week.

Each of the selected images will need to be delivered to The Freeborn County Arts Initiative Gallery by June 27.

The exhibition will be open July 7 through Aug. 29. An artist’s reception will be from 1 to 4 p.m. July 11.
