What started out as a misfortunate situation for us in northern Minnesota in the second week of June turned into a blessing when we met the good folks of Albert Lea. My wife, Joy, and I had been in the northern part of the state when we damaged the roof of our fifth-wheel trailer requiring the replacement of our AC unit and two skylights.

After contacting several dealers in the Minneapolis area we found that no replacement AC units were to be found, so we decided to head south as no rain was forecasted. As many times can be the situation, that turned out to be wrong! I spent a very restless and sleepless night watching as rain approached from the west trying to figure out what to do. About 4 in the morning, I decided I was going to have to find a way to remove the damaged AC unit and temporarily seal the roof.

I remembered passing a town several miles back and seeing a Home Depot. We went back there and when the store opened, I was waiting in their parking lot. I went to the service desk and explained my plight to Jason and told him what I needed to do. Without even a blink of an eye he said, “We will do whatever you need to help you.” And that is exactly what they did! They had me pull under their awning to get out of the rain, cut plywood to size to cover the hole and even used their forklift to remove the damaged AC unit. Jason, Tony and Jonelle were the greatest!

From there, we went to Adventure RV. Amy and Matt were very helpful to get the supplies I needed to replace the skylight covers and repair other damaged portions of my roof.

These two Texans will always hold a soft spot in our hearts and have fond memories of the good people of Albert Lea!
