DAHLGREN TOWNSHIP — Authorities said a wife and husband have died in an accident after they were thrown from the motorcycle they were riding in Carver County.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday in Dahlgren Township. The sheriff’s office said 40-year-olds Heidi and Patrick Gongoll, both of Norwood Young America, were killed in the crash.

According to the sheriff’s office, the motorcycle left the roadway and both riders were thrown from it. The office said Heidi Gongoll died at the scene, and her husband Patrick died at an area hospital.

The State Patrol has said at least 31 motorcyclists have died in Minnesota this year, nearly double the amount at the same time last year.
