On Oct. 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Daniel P. Erickson in Fairmont. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, where she was a part of the Ladies Aide and various circles. Lorraine was employed at Woolworth’s Dime Store as a sales associate for 15 years and later at Coast to Coast for around 10 years, but was most proud of being a homemaker and mother.

Lorraine was a very talented seamstress. She loved to quilt, knit, sew, crochet, needle point and even made Hardanger embroidery. She liked to go camping every summer, going on walks and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. Lorraine will be remembered as a very soft-spoken, gentle person who was always there for her family and never once complained about the hand she was dealt. Family was very important to her, and she cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; parents Basil and Esther; sons Douglas and Terry; siblings Gene Melvin, La Verne Melvin, Lola Pelton and Orlin Melvin; and several sisters and brothers-in-law.

Lorraine is survived by her children Karen (Russ Shaunce) Erickson of Glenville and Kathy (David) Register of Albert Lea; grandchildren Wade (Karen) Erickson, Jennifer (Tom) Habana, Tara (Mike Johannsen) Register, Tiffany (Tyler) Larsen and Lori Shaunce; great-grandchildren Tyler, Noah and Jordan Habana, Alyssa, Sara and Samantha Erickson, and Taylor and Miya Larsen; a brother, Charles “Bud” (Marilyn) Melvin, of La Farge; brother-in-law, Ewald Schnitzmeier, of Fairmont; and sister-in-law, Ardys Erickson, of Fairmont; as well as many other loving nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at St. John’s Lutheran Community for the exceptional care and compassion that was given to Lorraine.
