Country music artists who will perform at next week’s Freeborn County Fair will provide a significant source of revenue for the community, a fair organizer said Tuesday.
Mike Woitas didn’t have a definitive figure on how much revenue will be brought into the community through the acts.
“These acts bring in a lot of money to the community in terms of hotels, food and gas,” Woitas said. “This is a huge boost for the community.”
He spoke glowingly of this year’s performers.
“We’ve got two up-and-coming entertainers in Frankie Ballard and Tyler Farr,” Woitas said. “We’re known for picking entertainment that nobody has heard of. Sometimes by the next year they are famous.”
Woitas said the concert is a good deal and for a $10 gate admission price, you get into the show for free, unless you want VIP seats.
“People can get the opportunity to see some top-name entertainers and see what else is going on within the fairgrounds,” he said.
Albert Lea resident Heather Larsen is also excited to see the performers. She plans on attending Thursday through Saturday.
“I think it’s awesome that a small county like this can get big names like that,” Larsen said.
“In larger areas you pay more money for worse seats. Here, it’s a lot more personal. For that price, who wouldn’t go?”
Josh Turner will perform Tuesday. As of Tuesday morning, there were less than 100 reserved seats left. Turner is filling a hole left in the schedule left by Cole Swindell. Turner is known for songs like “ What it Ain’t,” “Your Man, “Would You Go With Me” and “Me and God.”
Frankie Ballard will perform Wednesday, Aug. 5. He is known for the songs ”Sunshine and Whiskey,” “Helluva Life,” “Young and Crazy and “Tell Me You Get Lonely.”
Country performer Tyler Farr is scheduled to perform Aug. 6. He is known for singing “A Guy Walks Into a Bar,” “Redneck Crazy” and “Whiskey in My Water.”
Country singer John Michael Montgomery will perform Aug. 7. Montgomery is known for singing “Life’s a Dance,” “I love the Way You Love Me,”, “Kickin’ it Up” and “I Swear.”
Joe Nichols will perform Aug. 8. Nichols is known for such hits as “ Yeah,” “Sunny and 75,” “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” and “I’ll Wait For You.”
Concerts begin at 8:30 p.m.
