Lemour Ferley, 1922-2015

Memorial services for Lemour Ferley will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea area veterans organizations.

Lemour Ferley, 93, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at his home in Albert Lea.

Lemour was born to Lawrence and Luella (Sorenson) Ferley on June 8, 1922, in Northwood. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1940. He enlisted in the Marine Corps. in October of 1942 and served as a tech sergeant in Miramar, California, the Philippines and China. He was discharged in May of 1946. He married Crystal Anderson on May 15, 1943, while stationed in San Diego.

Since his discharge, he worked as a salesman at Motor Inn for 48 years. He loved the challenge of selling cars because it’s the second biggest purchase people make, next to buying a house.

In his earlier years he served in various committees for the YMCA. He was also a charter member and past president of the J.M. Snyder Y’s Mens Club. He also served on many other committees at First Lutheran Church, where he was an active member. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Elks, Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Albert Lea Country Club and Fountain Investment Club.

In his free time he enjoyed golfing, hunting and watching all sports. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal; daughter, Jane and husband, Michal Hanson, and their children, Jeff (fiancee, Jasmine) and Kelli; sister, Elaine (Emmons) Rogness, and her husband, Ralph; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Howard Emmons, Glen and Lester Anderson and Merrit Hopfe; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Hopfe.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea or to the donor’s choice.
