What could be more American and summer than a picnic?

On Aug. 17 the Freeborn County Republican Party will sponsor our annual summer picnic. We want you to join us for some American family fun.

The event will be held at the Edgewater Park in the new enclosed pavilion just west of the area the ski club uses for their Thursday night shows.

The social hour and children’s activities will start at 5:30 p.m. This year the focus will be on families and there will be many outdoor activities focused on children. A bouncy house for the kids to jump in, as well as a mini-train that will give children rides all evening should help keep the children well entertained.

The meal will be served inside at 6 p.m. and is provided by Conger Catering. It includes Minnesota summer picnic favorites. Adult tickets are $12, students age 7 and up $6 and those under 6 are free.

Free outdoor activities for the children will continue during and after the dinner.  At 7 p.m. a lineup of guest speakers will address the attendees inside and answer questions. Speakers that have confirmed to date to attend include our local State Rep. Peggy Bennett, and 1st District Congressional candidate Jim Hagedorn. Additional speakers are expected to confirm in the coming weeks and we will be sharing those on our Facebook page.

Our featured speaker will be House GOP Leader Kurt Daudt from Crown.  Speaker Daudt lead the Republican efforts during the 2015 Legislative session and will lead 2016 session that will focus on tax relief and a transportation bill. This will be a great opportunity to hear about some of the future challenges and possibilities that face Minnesota in the coming year.

The picnic will be a great opportunity to connect with local Republicans and share your opinions with our local elected Republican leaders.
