EAGAN — A southeastern Minnesota man has been arrested on drug and child neglect charges after authorities said his 4-year-old daughter was found wandering the hotel they were staying at in the Twin Cities area.

A criminal complaint said the 39-year-old Elgin man’s daughter was found crying at the front desk of a hotel in Eagan early Monday. Another guest helped an employee find the girl’s father. The employee went inside his room and saw him sleeping on a bed and a one-year-old boy asleep on the floor.

According to the complaint, the employee flagged down a police officer outside on patrol, and the officer went into the man’s room and shook him awake. The complaint said two pipes and traces of methamphetamine were found in the room.

Authorities said both children were wearing soiled diapers.
