ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Wild have re-signed goalie Devan Dubnyk to a six-year contract.
Saturday’s announcement that they had inked the deal came a week after the Wild agreed to terms with Dubnyk, showing that they don’t believe his stellar play over the final four months of last season was a fluke. The deal cements the 29-year-old as Minnesota’s unquestioned man between the pipes for the foreseeable future.
Minnesota was languishing at 18-19-5 in mid-January in large part to its shaky goalies before it sent a third-round draft pick to Arizona for Dubnyk, who was a backup for the Coyotes after five uneven years at Edmonton.
Dubnyk posted a 1.78 goals-against average while starting 39 of the final 40 games as the Wild climbed back into the playoff picture.
