ST. PAUL — State officials will see if three counties in north-central Minnesota qualify for state disaster aid after a severe storm earlier this month.

Minnesota emergency management officials plan to meet today and Tuesday with local officials in Todd, Cass and Crow Wing counties.

State officials will do an assessment in each county to determine the extent of damage to roads and bridges and the cost to remove debris.

Storms tore through the Brainerd area on July 12, knocking down trees and closing popular resorts at the height of the summer vacation season.

In 2014, Gov. Mark Dayton signed legislation establishing a state disaster contingency account.
