Trinity Lutheran Church Women

The Trinity Lutheran Church Women hosted a Heritage Luncheon on June 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Women of all ages were invited.

The women were welcomed by co-president, Bev Jackson Cotter. She told about when Trinity was all Danish and how it grew to be part English and part Danish until it eventually became all English. It did take a long while for this to take place.

Jo Meyer, Trinity Lutheran Church Women mission growth secretary, gave the devotions. Meyer quoted Bible passages from the Psalms. It was suggested to members to make all of their days counts and if they had talents, which they all do, to put them to use. God wants them to use them. Meyer led the group in the table prayer.

A lunch was served by the Mary and Elizabeth circles. The menu consisted of chicken hot dish, cranberry salad, steamed carrots, dinner roll, dessert, cheesecake and coffee.

The program was introduced by Jan Drews, mission growth secretary. The Careyaires, under the direction of Janae Clausen, performed many songs. Clausen gave attendees a map of countries Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Germany as well as the surrounding countries. Much of the music was written by composers from these countries. This made it more meaningful for those attending.

A goodwill offering is usually taken but it was decided for each person to only give 10 cents like back in the day. The group closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
