Vercella Smith, 1925-2015

Vercella “Pat” Smith, 90, of Waseca passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco with the Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Interment will be at St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Vercella “Pat” Elaine, daughter of Arthur and Blanche (Olson) Johnson, was born on Jan. 21, 1925, in Otisco Township, Waseca County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was blessed with two children, Larry and Bonnie. Pat worked at Owatonna Canning Co. for 36 years. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco, the American Legion Auxillary in Waseca, was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary in Owatonna and was a past president of the Disabled American Vetera Auxillary in Albert Lea. She enjoyed trips to Colorado to visit family and loved family gatherings. She also enjoyed playing cards — especially cribbage — at the senior center.
Pat is survived by son, Larry (Virginia) Hanson, of New Richland; daughter, Bonnie (Jim) Stambaugh, of Thornton, Colorado; grandchildren Brian (Laura), Richard, Jacki (Derek), Michael and Stacy (Eddie); great-grandchildren Brian, Zach, Justin, Chanse, Kyle, Nathan, Austin, Derek and Nicholas; great-great-grandchilren Makenzi, Lelan and Brianna; sister, Delores Parrish, of Owatonna; aunt, Marie Olson, of Ellendale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dwight; and fiance, Ray.
