Fellow veterans and I were upset at the placement of the color guard in Albert Lea’s Third of July parade.

Veterans marching with the VFW and American Legion color guards are used to marching behind two  squad cars. I felt it was very disrespectful to our American flag and color guard members carrying and guarding the flags to have an ATV and several rowdy people between the squad car and the color guard.

Let’s hope this doesn’t happen again. Marching with the color guard is already a tough task without those distractions. We do appreciate the people who show respect for our flag and the men carrying it.
