7 injured in 3-car crash on Minnesota Highway 13

NEW RICHLAND — Seven people were injured after a three-car crash Tuesday afternoon at an intersection in New Richland.

The crash took place at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 13 and Third Street Northeast.

All of the injuries were deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The report stated a PT Cruiser, driven by Jamie Leibeg, 39, of Emmons, was apparently stopped while heading northbound on Highway 13, waiting to turn left onto Third Street. A Ford Focus, reportedly driven by a juvenile of Waseca, was reportedly northbound on Highway 13 and rear-ended the PT Cruiser. A Kia Sorento, driven by Lloyd W. Kuefner, 42, of  Waseca, was reportedly southbound on Highway 13 and was struck by the Ford Focus after it collided with the PT Cruiser.

Leibeg was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Kuefner was not taken to the hospital.

The juvenile, whose name was not listed, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.

Julie I. Hodapp, 54, of Waseca, Hannah J. Royer, 13, and Khryssa Hodapp, 14, the passengers of the Ford Focus, were also taken to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waseca.

Brandie J. Kuefner, 41, of Waseca, the passenger of the Kia Sorento, sustained non-life threatening injuries and wasn’t taken to the hospital.

Alcohol was reportedly not a factor in the crash.

All seven people were reportedly wearing seatbelts.

The crash was reported at 1:17 p.m. The roadway was wet at the time of the crash.

The New Richland Police Department and Waseca County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
