Car crashes into front of Trumble’s 

No one was reportedly injured after a car crashed into the front wall of Trumbles the afternoon of Aug. 16.

The incident happened after Mary Sukup, 82, of Sheffield, Iowa, driver of a 2015 Ford Edge, reportedly hit the gas instead of the brakes of her car while trying to park in the parking lot, according to Albert Lea police. There were customers inside near the booths that were struck.

A significant amount of damage was done to the front wall of the building, and glass shattered. The wall was pushed in. The car sustained minor bumper damage.

Damage to the restaurant was well over $2,000, according to Dwaine Winkels, public safety director. The incident was reported at 1:21 p.m. Aug. 16.

As of Monday, the wall was still boarded up.

A representative from Trumble’s was unavailable for comment as of press time.

 

Burglary reported

Big Toe Little Toe Excavating was reported broken into at 1:25 p.m. Saturday. Someone apparently unfastened the fence along the east side of the property. An outer pane of glass on the exterior door on the east side of the building was smashed, but no entry was made into the building. No suspects were reported. Someone allegedly entered the property a week ago via a makeshift fence panel on the west side of the building and took a push mower valued at $100.

 

Man arrested on warrant

Police arrested Sky Lamont Christensen on four local warrants at 5:53 p.m. Saturday at 514 E. Seventh St. in Albert Lea.

2 cited for theft

Police cited Sherri Lynn Adams for misdemeanor theft at 6:40 p.m. Saturday at 1617 W. Main St. in Albert Lea.

Police arrested Abby Lee Tripp for theft and driving with a revoked driver’s license Monday night in Albert Lea.

 

Theft reported

A female allegedly stole clothing and a paperback book from Walmart Saturday night. The female was described as being white with dark hair and a ponytail. She allegedly took four to five items and stuffed them into a large purse before leaving the store. The incident was reported at 8:05 p.m. Saturday.

 

Criminal damage to property reported

A window was reported broken in and a door frame damaged at 6:17 p.m. Sunday at 718 St. Peter Ave. in Albert Lea. The suspect allegedly fled the area.

A basement window was reportedly broken and damage was reportedly done to the back of a garage at 825 Jefferson Ave. in Albert Lea. The incident was reported at 5:24 p.m. Monday.

 

Gas lines struck

A gas line was reportedly hit at 7:54 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Broadway and Front Street in Albert Lea. A second gas line was reportedly struck at 11:11 a.m. Monday at 815 Broadway Ave.

 

Illegal drugs found

Illegal drugs were reportedly found at 1:56 p.m. Monday at 601 E. Fifth St. in Albert Lea. Drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana was reportedly picked up and booked into evidence.
