Crash in Kensett kills one

Car rolls after blown out tire

KENSETT — One person died and one was injured Thursday morning after a car went off the road and rolled near Kensett in Worth County.

Teresa Evelina Brevig, 52, of Northwood was pronounced dead. Kenneth Robert Brevig, 57, of Northwood was taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City with injuries.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 1999 Mazda was reportedly heading southbound on U.S. Highway 65 at 9:09 a.m. when it had a tire blowout, lost control and started to roll. The car reportedly rolled approximately 25 yards and then came to a rest.

Teresa Brevig was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Mason City Fire Department assisted at the scene.
