Man, 20, dies after being pulled from St. Croix River

CENTER CITY — Authorities said a 20-year-old man has died after he was pulled from the St. Croix River in Minnesota.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Rico Davis of rural Chisago County died Tuesday. The sheriff’s office said Davis had swum out into a portion of the river that was 8 feet deep about 3 miles northwest of Nevers Dam, and he started to have trouble staying above water.
According to the sheriff’s office, friends tried to get Davis to shallow water, but were unsuccessful until he was unresponsive. Authorities arrived at the scene and efforts to revive him ended around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.
