BROOKLYN PARK — Police have located the mother of a 3-year-old boy who was wearing only a diaper when he was found near a busy street in a Twin Cities suburb.

Brooklyn Park police were looking for the parents of the toddler who was found along West Broadway about 7:40 a.m. Thursday. Deputy Chief Mark Bruley said a passer-by called police after spotting the child alone.

Police located the boy’s mother about five hours later. According to a press release, a miscommunication in the family led to the boy wandering away.
