ST. PAUL — A federal grand jury has indicted two people related to the now-closed Community Action of Minneapolis on charges related to alleged embezzlement of public grant money.

Charging documents released Thursday name William Davis and his son Jordan Davis as defendants.

The elder Davis was chief executive of the nonprofit group that distributes assistance to low-income clients. The younger Davis is a Minneapolis police officer.

The charges accuse the men of defrauding the organization of at least $250,000 and personally enriching themselves.

Williams Davis’ attorney, Susan Gaertner, said  he will plead not guilty. A Minneapolis police spokesman said they were looking into the status of Jordan Davis, whose attorney said it was too early to comment.
