St. Paul firefighter dies after having heart attack on duty

ST. PAUL — A St. Paul firefighter has died after having a heart attack while on duty at a firehouse.
St. Paul fire chief Tim Butler said 38-year-old firefighter-paramedic Shane Clifton was working out just after 5 p.m. Monday when he suddenly wasn’t feeling well and collapsed. Butler said firefighters and medics at the firehouse treated Clifton, but he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
According to press release Clifton, a Navy veteran, is the first St. Paul firefighter to die in the line of duty since 2009.
