2 hurt in Winnebago Co. crash

Iowa state patrol investigating

FOREST CITY — Two people were transported to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a broadside crash northeast of Forest City.

Michael Piper, 30, of Lake Mills was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, and Michelle Kingland, 52, of Forest City was transported by Forest City Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Piper was reportedly driving a 2015 Chevy Silverado north on 220th Avenue, south of 360th Street, when he struck a 2002 Buick Park Avenue, driven by Kingland, who was reportedly heading east on 360th Street. The pickup struck the Park Avenue in the passenger side, according to the State Patrol.

Both vehicles reportedly entered the northeast corner of the intersection. The Silverado came to rest on its top facing south, and the Buick came to rest on its wheels in the field facing west.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Kingland and Piper were both treated and  released from the hospital.
