Alice Lunning, 1916-2015

Alice Lenora Lunning, 99, of Alden died Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.A funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in Elmore. Alice Lenora Loge was born April 1, 1916, to Lars and Laurensa (Ogland) Loge on a farm west of Elmore. She graduated from Ledyard, Iowa High School in 1934. Alice was united in marriage to Harold Adair Lunning on Feb. 23, 1936, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore. To this union four children were born, Rochelle, Sonja, Gayle and Lee. Alice and Harold were farmers in Faribault County, then in 1959 they purchased a farm in Morris. They sold their farm in 1969 and moved to Fridley. There Alice worked as a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney in Roseville and for a beauty shop. She also worked at Williams Arena Concessions for 10 years. They bought their home in Alden in 1979, and she baked and cooked for Trumbles and Trails Travel Center in Albert Lea for 10 years. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards and entertaining family and friends.
Alice is survived by her children Rochelle Langsev of Bricelyn, Sonja (husband, Stanley) Matheson of Alden, Gayle (wife, Diane) Lunning of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Lee Gordon of Hugo; special niece, Virginia (Larry) Bradford; 11 grandchildren, Wade Langsev, Ryan (Les) Langsev, Carmen Matheson, RaAnna (Paul) Pestorious, Jodi Matheson, Natalie (John) Hurtley, Michelle (Rob) Rampetsreiter, Stephanie (Dave) Windhausen, Allison (Ainsley) Lackey, Toni (Justin) Plecko and Rae Gordon; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold, in February 2005; grandson, Matthew Gordon, in January 1986; son-in-law, Woody Langsev, in July 2006; six brothers, Leonard, Louis, Levi, Harold, Lee and Sig; and three sisters, Anna Loge, Alma Rhoda and Margaret Haaland.
