Bonnie Arnold, 1932-2015

A memorial service for Bonnie Beth Arnold will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup Funeral chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Don Malinsky will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Bonnie passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community. She was 83.

Bonnie was born on Feb. 25, 1932, to Floyd and Leila (Best) Rowe at home in Burchinal, Iowa.  She grew up in the Burchinal area and graduated from Swaledale High School. On Aug. 9, 1971, she was united in marriage to Bob Arnold in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Albert Lea.

Bonnie worked at St. John’s Lutheran Community and was also a cosmetic specialist at Snyder Drug, retiring when she was 62. Bonnie was a proud member of the Eagles, where she was on the ritual team and had served as president of the auxiliary. Through the Eagles, she volunteered countless hours with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a foundation that was very close to her heart. Aside from volunteering, she spent her free time with her husband. Wherever he went, she was there, and vice versa.  The couple was inseparable. They enjoyed traveling to Texas, fishing, going to the casino and going on ice cream dates.

She is preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Leila; and siblings Maxine (Roger) Chaney, Don (Dorothy) Rowe, Dale Rowe and Dan Rowe.

She leaves behind her husband of 44 years, Bob Arnold; children Dan (Abby) Aastrup, Jay (Paul Hadobas) Aastrup, Mike (Scarlet) Aastrup, Bob (Deb) Arnold, Robynn Gudbaur, Vickki (Mark) Kirchhoff and Kelli (Brett) Smith; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jean Rowe and Norma Rowe; special friend, Anna Mae Lugar; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to the Make A Wish Foundation of Minnesota: 615 First Ave NE  No. 415, Minneapolis, MN 55413.
