In her early years, Noona drove the school bus for Hayward Elementary. She worked a few other odd jobs, but her main job — and also her greatest accomplishment — was raising her nine children. Noona was a Gold Star mother, losing her oldest son, Chuck, to the Vietnam War. Through all of that, she still managed to keep her family together.

Noona was an active volunteer for the community. She would often give people rides, set up the community center every Friday in Hayward and help out at Hayward Lutheran Church, along with many other things. In her free time she enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed her coffee groups, where they would all get together and discuss current events and politics. Noona could be described as a gracious, caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert James Barnick; sons Charles and Donald; and siblings Esther, Sandy, Howard, Bernice and Christ Jr.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her children, William (Nora) Barnick of St. Peter, Kristine (Don) Werth of Andover, James (June) Barnick of Elgin, Kathryn (Mike) Meyerhofer of Manly, Iowa, Donna Sorenson of Blaine, June (Mark) Knoll of Coon Rapids and David (Dawn) Barnick of Albert Lea; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Blessed be her memory.
