Funeral services for Larry Lee Thompson, 78, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Life Christian Church. The Rev. Vern Harris will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Larry died on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

Larry Lee Thompson was born on Sept. 1, 1937, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Hilda (Judding) Thompson. He grew up near Buffalo Center and went to school in Elbow Lake through the eighth grade. Larry then left school to help his dad with the family farm. Larry served his country for several years in the National Guard. On Aug. 20, 1984, Larry was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Shuck. He was a member of Elbow Lake Church and a long-time member of the Eagles Lodge. Larry enjoyed most outdoor activities and loved watching WWE with his grandchildren. Some favorite memories were going to a WWE main event and a trip he took up north, both with his son, Troy. He especially loved spending time with his family and particularly his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Thompson; children Troy Thompson and Sheena (Erik) Olson; grandchildren Abigail Thompson, Haven Thompson and Kylie Olson; sisters Beverly (Elmer) Ohm, Janis (Paul) Pierce and Carol (Ron) Bennett; brother, Lynn (Teresa) Thompson; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Hilda; his stepmother, Rhoda Thompson; and his brothers Hollice, David and Roger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
