Mildred Clemmensen, 1914-2015

Mildred Emma Clemmensen, 101, of Owatonna died peacefully on a beautiful and sunny fall day, Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Koda Living Community in Owatonna.

Mildred was born on the family farm on May 18, 1914, in Somerset Township, Steele County, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Busho) Sette. She married Clem Clemmensen on Feb. 15, 1933. They moved to Mildred’s parents’ farm in 1933, which they rented for 15 years until purchasing the farm in 1948. All five of their children were also born on the farm. Mildred and Clem farmed for many years. Clem died in 1988 and Mildred stayed on the farm until the age of 98.

Mildred was a true farming wife. She was a hard-working mother and raised her children to be honest and hardworking. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, baking, John Deere tractors, shopping and chicken at Culver’s.

She is survived by her children Dolores Ruth of Norfolk, Virginia, Loren Clemmensen of Owatonna, Beverly Johnson of Warsaw, Shirley (Robert) Indrelie of Albert Lea and Oran (Nancy) Clemmensen of Northfield; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and2 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clem; daughter-in-law, Mary Clemmensen; son-in-law, Jerry Johnson; grandsons Lance Johnson and Robert Ruth; and sister, Gladys Hogate.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Michaelson Funeral Home. The Rev. Jean Stewart will officiate. Interment will be in the Owatonna Memorial Gardens. Memorials are preferred to Allina Hospice, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
