NRHEG marksmen claim Conference 9 title

- The NRHEG clay target team — with student-athletes from Albert Lea, Waseca and NRHEG — won the eight-team Conference 9 championship with 13,086.5 points. Anoka was the conference runner-up with 12,112 points. NRHEG won the title for the fourth time since the team’s inception in 2011. The team had 37 players in sixth through 12th grade and never trailed in the conference standings, according to head coach Dan Sorum. Sorum said 2,378 student-athletes competed in the fall clay target league. — Provided
- Alex Romer, left, and Caleb Hoffman, right, of Albert Lea competed for the NRHEG clay target team. Romer had the third-best average in Conference 9 and was in the top 100 shooters in the state, which made him an All-State selection along with teammates Kyle Bartz, Zachary Eustice and Tyler Raimann, according to NRHEG coach Dan Sorum. Bartz won the team’s Top Shooter Award on Nov. 3 at the team’s awards banquet. He set the team record with a 23.9 average. Jager Beck won the Most Improved Shooter Award. — Provided
