Romo advances in peace poster contest

Abby Romo, a sixth-grade student at Southwest Middle School, has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning a local competition sponsored by the Lakeview Lions Club. Her poster was among more than 400,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 28th Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Romo was awarded first place and $50 at the Veterans Day program at Southwest. The poster was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “Share Peace.” Romo’s poster will advance to the next stage of the judging process which will take place in February in Mankato. - Provided
