Tigers trio recognized by Big Nine Conference

- The Albert Lea boys’ soccer team’s awards banquet was Oct. 29 at the high school. The Tigers (8-6-4, 5-3-3 Big Nine) produced three Big Nine All-Conference performers: from left are Porfirio Garcia, Foster Otten and Colton Mowers. Albert Lea posted seven shutouts and held 14 opponents to one goal or fewer. The Tigers’ season included a 4-1 home win Sept. 29 against Mankato West (9-6-2, 6-3-2 Big Nine), the No. 1 seed in the section tournament, and a 1-0 overtime win in the Section 2A quarterfinals at Waseca. — Provided
- Awards inscribed “District 2A All-Star” were presented to Matt Tate, Foster Otten, Porfirio Garcia and Chris Nelson. The Tigers competed in Section 2A and their season ended with a 1-0 shootout loss against Mankato East on Oct. 21 in the section semifinals. — Provided
