MINNEAPOLIS — An Eden Prairie woman will spend nearly seven years in prison for embezzling about $1.3 million while working for a Golden Valley property management company owned by her mother.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said 42-year-old Stephanie Castillo was sentenced Monday to six years and eight months in prison. She also was ordered to pay more than $1.1 million in restitution.
Castillo was accused of embezzling money from four companies, starting in 2009, while working at Balderson Management. Prosecutors alleged that she had access to clients’ funds and drafted fake invoices for vendor services, and then applied some of the payments to Balderson’s records.
