Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla said the bicyclist turned onto the tracks. Fire crews had to extricate him from underneath a train car.

It was the second day in a row that a person had been killed by a light-rail train in the Twin Cities.

On Thursday, a 67-year-old woman was struck and killed by a Green Line train in St. Paul when she ran across the tracks at a pedestrian crossing.
