Southern Minnesota under winter storm warning

Freeborn County and much of southern Minnesota are under a winter storm warning as a storm moves into the area that is expected to bring the first major snowfall of the season.
The warning is in effect for all of west central Wisconsin and parts of central and southern Minnesota.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to develop around noon today and then diminish around noon Tuesday.
The heaviest snowfall is expected to occur between 4 p.m. and midnight today.
Total snow accumulation of 9 to 11 inches is expected.
The Weather Service warns there may be significant reductions in visibility at times, and people should plan for difficult driving conditions.
If people must travel, they are advised to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of emergency.
