Weekend Planner: 3-D archery tournament slated for weekend in Albert Lea

The Full-Draw Archery Club of Albert Lea will host an indoor 3-D archery tournament this weekend on Newton Avenue.

The tournament runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at 133 S. Newton Ave.

There will be 10 shooting lanes and 30 animal targets placed from 5 to 35 yards at unmarked distances. There will also be pop-up targets and moving targets, including moving fish and ping pong balls.

It is a relatively quiet weekend in the Albert Lea area. Here’s a roundup of other things happening:

 

Saturday

• A retirement open house for outgoing Freeborn County Historical Museum Executive Director Pat Mulso will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the museum. Cost is free to attend. Donations to the museum will be accepted.

• An encore presentation of “The Magic Flute” in high definition from the Metropolitan Opera will be at 1 p.m. at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

The production of “The Magic Flute” has enchanted opera lovers around the world with whimsical humor and breathtaking puppetry of American stage director Julie Taymor’s hit production.

This is a shortened English language version that runs 100 minutes.

“The Magic Flute” is a story of young people and their journey through danger, fantasy and wildness.
