MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man is charged with first-degree assault for allegedly beating his 21-month-old daughter so badly that she suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs and a lacerated spleen and kidney.
Hennepin County prosecutors charged 21-year-old Ticortier Collins on Friday. The complaint says he brought Rae’Ana Hall to the hospital last Sunday because she was wheezing and her lips turned purple.
He initially told a social worker the girl bumped heads with another child, but changed his story. Doctors recognized the severe injuries weren’t consistent with a fall or common injury. The girl’s mother said earlier this week that the child was in critical condition and on life support.
Online court records do not list an attorney to comment on Collins’ behalf.
