Trustees of the Albert B. Cuppage Foundation recently presented a $2,000 check to the Riverland Community College Foundation to launch a new annual scholarship that supports students enrolled full-time in a career and technical program located at Riverland Community College’s Albert Lea campus.
“On behalf of the Cuppage Foundation, we are thrilled to assist students with the funding of their technical training and education,” said Don Savelkoul, a trustee of the Albert B. Cuppage Foundation. “The job skills that Riverland provides to students are in high demand with local employers, and the filling of these positions is vital to the growth of our community. We really appreciate that Riverland is focused on expanding the training needed for expanding our workforce, and helping students improve their lives.”
“The Albert B. Cuppage Foundation supports a variety of needs in the Albert Lea community and we are so happy to have them partner with Riverland through this annual scholarship,” said Steve Bowron, Riverland dean for institutional advancement. “Starting this semester, Albert B. Cuppage Foundation scholarship will annually provide two students enrolled in an Albert Lea career and technical program with $1,000 to help with tuition costs.”
“It also encourages students to pursue careers in programs like industrial maintenance, machining, diesel technology, auto service technology, welding, electrician, wind turbine, administrative support, accounting or computer tech at a time when the local demand for these skilled professionals are in such high demand. Riverland is very fortunate to have the Albert B. Cuppage Foundation as one of their partners.”
