Everyone is invited to join the Albert Lea High School choirs to celebrate the power of music in students’ lives at their concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the Albert Lea High School auditorium.
The concert will feature the Tiger women’s choir, Tiger mixed choir, varsity choir and concert choir. The choirs are directed by Diane Heaney and Mary Bissen, and accompanied by Bob Tewes.
Tickets for the concert are $7 for adults and $5 for students, and are available at the door. Music concert passes are also good for this concert.
The concert is a special concert, as students prepare to make the leap into March. According to a press release, March has been designated as Music in Our Schools Month by the National Association for Music Education. The theme for the concert is Music Inspires.
Students will sharetheir thoughts on the positive aspects of music study and demonstrating things they have learned throughout the concert.
In other Albert Lea choir news, about 40 members of the choirs participated in the solo and ensemble contest on Jan. 23 at Lakeville High School. The Tiger choir students recently went to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre to see a professional production of “Sister Act.”
The varsity choir will go to the Ordway to see a production from Minnesota Opera, and 90 members of the concert choir recently went on a short choral tour where they saw “A Chorus Line” at the Ordway Theatre, sang for choral clinician Therees Hibbard at St.Olaf College, and did a choral exchange sing with Faribault High School.
