Carol Raben, 1933-2016

Funeral services for Carol Mae Raben of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeffrey Phelps will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Carol died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. She was 82.
Carol was born Nov 23, 1933, in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clayton and Mae (Nolan) Thorgeson. She graduated from Central High School in Superior and from Superior vocational college. On April 23, 1977, she was united in marriage to Warren Raben at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Carol was a licensed practical nurse working in Minneapolis. After moving to Albert Lea in 1977, she was a home health nurse.
Carol was an active member of Crossroads Church, worked with the Gideon’s and KJLY with their prayer chain, and with the local cancer support group.
She loved to travel with Warren and did mission work in Texas for many years. She enjoyed interacting with family and friends and visiting people in the nursing home.
Carol is survived by nieces Kathy (Jay) Dyrdal of Albert Lea and Bev (Scott) Krause of New Richland; and nephews David (Jane) Raben of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Larry Raben of Albert Lea and Tim (fiance, Jill Illg) Raben of Albert Lea.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Warren, in 2009.
