The North Central Iowa Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 13 in Clear Lake Public Library meeting room.
The program will be about the orphan trains that made stops in north central Iowa. The group’s speaker will be society member, Rod Hungerford. He will discuss the history of the orphan trains and what happened to some of the children who found homes here. During Hungerford’s research on the topic, he discovered many orphan train children became permanent residents. They married, had families and lead successful lives in the county.
