MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis officials are asking for a federal review of how the city responded to demonstrations after a black man was fatally shot by Minneapolis police late last year.
Mayor Betsy Hodges and Police Chief Janee Harteau asked for an independent review by the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The program promotes improvements to officers’ ties with communities.
Hodges said the review would help the city know what was done well and what could be done better.
