Police arrest suspect in robbery of good Samaritan

ST. PAUL — St. Paul police have arrested a man suspected of robbing a 76-year-old good Samaritan.

Police announced the arrest Saturday. Police said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested after jumping out of a window at a St. Paul home.

Police said the suspect approached the victim at a St. Paul gas station Thursday night. The man said he was new in town and had no money, and asked for a ride.

About five blocks later, the suspect asked to be dropped off. Police said when the victim went outside to open the man’s door, he was attacked from behind by the suspect.

A police spokesman said the suspect knocked the victim down and ripped off the man’s jacket, which contained his wallet and cellphone.
