MOUND  — Several students at a western Twin Cities high school face discipline after reportedly wearing KKK-like costumes in an annual dodgeball tournament.

Some spectators said a group of upperclassmen at Mound Westonka High School wore all-white uniforms at the fundraiser Wednesday night. According to a press release, the uniforms included white T-shirts and bandannas pointed upward like cones.

Dodgeball teams are encouraged to dress in costume for the event. Administrators started an investigation after allegations of misconduct surfaced that night.

In an email to parents, principal Mark McIlmoyle wrote that a small group of students had engaged in “offensive conduct,” both on and off campus, that violated district policies.

McIlmoyle said that “appropriate action” was taken. School officials declined to elaborate.
