Beatrice Brandt, 1927-2016

Beatrice Beulah Brandt, 89, of Wells died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at 54577 230th St. in Minnesota Lake. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery at Minnesota Lake. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home is assisting the family. To leave online condolences, visit www.brussheitner.com.

Beatrice Beulah was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Clark Township in Faribault County, the daughter of Adolph and Hattie (Pestorious) Stern. Bea attended Country School No. 112 through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Harvey Brandt Nov. 22, 1944, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wells and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Bea enjoyed trips in the motorhome, playing cards, fishing trips, gardening, canning and many church activities. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed working at her granddaughter’s flower shop, Accents of Alden.

She is survived by her daughters Janice Ignaszewski of Mapleton and Sheryl (David) Ignaszewski of Owatonna; grandchildren Jay (Donna) Ignaszewski of  Woodbury, Jolene (Pat) Bute of Alden, Jon (Christy) Ignaszewski of Wells, Jeff (Jen) Ignaszewski of Wells, Stacy (Travis) Simon of Geneva, Daren (Ashley) Ignaszewski of Wells and Laura Brandt of Waseca; sister, Marlys Tolzmann, of Wells; 14 great-grandchildren, Chandler, Amber and Tanner Ignaszewski, Jordan and Erika Bute, Mallory, Brody and Trent Ignaszewski, Jace, Jaylee and Jordy Ignaszewski, Parker and Chase Simon, and Isaac Ignaszewski; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey, in 2002; son, Curtis, in 1978; daughter-in-law, Eileen Brandt Slechta; sons-in-law Jerome Ignaszewski and Bob Nienow; and brother, Merlin Stern.
