Dean Kontzelmann, 1929-2016

Memorial services for Dean M. Kontzelmann will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Thorne Crest Senior Living Community chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in the spring at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Dean passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea.  She was 86.

Dean Marion (Passer) was born May 26, 1929, to Homer and Margaret (Penny) Passer in Wells. She grew up in the Wells area and attended school there. On Jan. 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Marvin Kontzelmann in Wells. The couple was blessed with two children. The family farmed near Walnut Lake Township. She was in charge of taking care of the house and family.

Dean was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles and playing the piano. The only television show she watched was WWF Wrestling, and she rarely missed an episode. Overall, she enjoyed life, had fun in anything she did and loved her family unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by both parents Homer and Margaret; spouse, Marvin; siblings Glenn Passer, David Passer, Iowen Passer and Muriel Zielie.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her children Fred (Sue) Kontzelmann of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Sandy (Al) Prescott of Albert Lea; grandchildren Amy, Jennifer (Mike), John (Jessica), Nicole, Jessica, Reece and Gabrielle; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
