Diane Brackey, 1952-2016

Diane Marie Brackey, 63, of Lake Mills died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. The Rev. David Emmons will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S. Lake St. in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Lake Mills Synod Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Mills.
Diane Marie Brackey was born Dec. 4, 1952, in Albert Lea to Marvin and Thelma (Askildson) Brackey Isaacson. She was the middle of five children. Diane was baptized and confirmed at Synod Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. She attended school in Lake Mills.
Diane started working when she was 14 at Maid-Rite in Lake Mills. She later purchased the Maid-Rite and turned it into The Grand Café, where she has spent the last 29 years of her life.
Diane and Steve Peterson were long-time partners and had two children together, Nichole Segura and Scott Brackey Peterson.
Diane enjoyed her friends and family. She was always there to help someone in need. The apples of her eye were her three grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel and Jacob, whom she raised until they became young adults.
She enjoyed cooking and baking for those she loved. Her friends and family were her pride and joy. She enjoyed going to the casino with close friends when she had time off. Her siblings, with whom she shared many priceless memories, meant the world to her.
Diane was known for her friendly nature and her ability to visit with any stranger or friend. Life was never boring around Diane and she was sure to keep it that way. She was known to be a trickster.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Nichole Segura (Benjamin); grandchildren Sarah, Rachel and Jacob; parents Thelma and Raymond Isaacson; siblings Patti Hissam (David), Deb Bergland and Robert Brackey (Julie); many nieces and nephews; one great-great-niece; and Wendy Bendickson Grier, who she loved like a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Brackey Peterson; her father, Marvin Brackey; brother, Danny Brackey; longtime partner, Steve Peterson; special uncle, Vernon (Snookie) Brackey; and many other special friends.
